What are the pros/cons of running a ski business?
Jul 4th, 2009 by admin
Hi, me and my partner have decided to go ahead and find a property to turn into a ski chalet and start our own business. We have discussed this at length and have decided that although we know it will be the hardest work either of us has ever done, it is the life/lifestyle that we both want. We have already done a lot of research around the subject etc, but I just thought I would post a question on here asking for people who have ever owned/worked in their own ski chalet, and what are the pros/cons of doing so, what would you advise or not, what is the best and worst experiences etc, just to get as much knowledge as possible from people who have real life experience. Thank you,

Just what are you going to do? A B&B is quite common, but remember, that you need to clean the rooms before you go skiing. Hence the pow is gone before you get there. If you are tuning equipment, there is a lot of competition and it takes time and many pairs to make any money. Like all seasonal work the income is erratic.
If you are working on slope then your ski time may be limited, unless you are patrol or instructor.
