Could you recommend suitable for family holidays skiing resort in the Alps where slopes are above 2000m mark?

Ideal resort would be next to historic/authentic alpine village/town where our grandpa, who is 77 and won’t be skiing, would have enough activity and places to see while the rest of us (8 of us) are cutting the snow
Got to book chalet before not too late and would like to try new place instead of choosing places we’ve been to (Morzine and Les Gets at Portes du Soleil, Bettmeralp and Riederalp at Aletch, Zermatt, Montana, Saas Fee and several small ones). Also, does the map of Alps with all skiing resorts exists online or highstreet bookshop? Just a thought. Would be handy to have on the wall. Thanks in advance!

Try Brides les Bains, plenty of activities for those in need of spa treatment and mild weather walking and it is a low level resort. However, the lift takes you straight up (about 20-30 minutes) into the Three Valleys skiing area.
